OUR PHILOSOPHY OF WORKING WITH GRIEVING CHILDREN

Our philosophy can best be summed up in the following poem:

I tried to teach my child with books
And all I got were puzzled looks.
I tried to teach my child with words
They passed him by, oft unheard.
Then into my hand he put the key
"Come", he said, "and play with me."

We believe that:

Grieving children will often talk through or play out their concerns and fears if provided a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, confidential environment.

Mourning is a process, not a journey or a one-time event.

Mourning is a natural reaction to the death of someone important in our lives. It is not an illness to be cured or diagnosed.
